Yates Cider Mill

With a history that dates back to 1863, Yates Grist Mill opened its doors beside the rapidly flowing waters of the 'then' Clinton-Kalamazoo Canal. By 1876, the Yates family installed a cider press into the existing water-powered process and began producing delicious Michigan cider. It then became known as Yates Cider Mill. Yates is one of the oldest, continually running businesses in Michigan. Come for a visit and be a part of what has made Yates Cider Mill a destination for generations.

Visitors learn about the people, places and events that have shaped the Greater Rochester Hills Community, through preserving the history of the greater Rochester area, and the fascinating story of the Taylor-Van Hoosen families who settled Stoney Creek Village in Rochester Hills in 1823. The Museum has guided tours of the 1840 Van Hoosen Farmhouse and 1850 Red House, along with the exhibits, videos (including the Museum's award winning PBS movie, "Pioneer Family on Van Hoosen Farm"), Museum store and Hall of Fame, in the Dairy Barn.
